What we do

Food for Charities helps organisations to pick up fresh food from supermarkets and wholesalers that would otherwise be thrown away, and deliver it to charities, for free.  Our services are also free.  This is a win-win-win:

It cuts down on the many tonnes of perfectly good food that are thrown away every day

It provides fresh, healthy food to people who may not otherwise be able to buy it

It offers a chance to talk about how to eat healthily and cook ‘new’ foods

Typically, for every £1 spent on petrol and insurance, at least £100 worth of food can be delivered (in Banbury it’s about £250).

We help to set up new organisations for that purpose, like Banbury Food for Charities.  We also support existing organisations, like food banks, to set up their own collection systems.
